Why FigSplit?
FigSplit was born out of a simple need: a modern, intuitive, and fairly-priced tool for sharing trip costs. Many existing alternatives felt clunky or required costly monthly subscriptions.
This app is different. It will never have a monthly fee. For now, it's completely free to use. As the user base grows and server costs increase, the plan is to introduce a small, one-time fee—less than the price of a coffee—that will grant you the ability to create or join a generous number of trips.
The goal is to provide a beautiful and convenient cost-sharing tool for all your adventures for an entire year, for less than you'd spend on your morning latte.
How to Use FigSplit
1. Create or Join a Trip
Start by creating a new trip from the dashboard. Give it a name and an icon. If you're not logged in, you can start with a demo trip to see how things work. To collaborate, sign up and invite friends using the "Invite" button inside your trip.
2. Add Expenses
Click the "Add Expense" button to record a spending. You can specify the amount, currency, who paid, and what it was for. The app automatically fetches the latest exchange rates if you use a foreign currency.
3. Split Your Way
Choose how to split each expense. "Equally" divides the cost among all selected participants. "By Shares" allows for custom ratios, perfect for when someone's share is different. "I Cover" is a shortcut for when you paid for something for yourself. You can set default shares for each member in the "Members" tab.
4. Finalize & Settle Up
Once you've added all your expenses, head to the "Expenses" tab and click "Finalize My Expenses." This locks your entries and lets others know you're ready. The "Summary" tab will then show you exactly who owes whom to settle all debts easily.
